Pourquoi investir dans ce Fonds?

The Pender Credit Opportunities Fund targets special situation, stressed and distressed public credit: debt securities that have experienced significant price declines or widening credit spreads. The Fund seeks opportunities where forced selling, market technicals and volatility cause the debt of fundamentally sound businesses to trade below intrinsic value.

Objectifs de placement

The Fund seeks to capitalize on these dislocations to generate attractive risk-adjusted returns through capital appreciation and income, investing primarily in special situation, stressed and distressed debt securities of publicly traded companies.

Pertinence du portefeuille

Designed for investors seeking a differentiated source of returns beyond traditional high yield and private credit, with the potential for equity-like returns, lower volatility and diversification benefits alongside traditional fixed income and equity allocations.

Pourquoi investir

Why opportunistic public credit?

A fundamentals-first approach that stays suitable regardless of where we are in the credit cycle.

Cycle-Resilient Performance

  • Focus on idiosyncratic, security-specific outcomes rather than broad market beta.
  • Deep credit analysis on each investment; risk is viewed as permanent loss of capital.
  • Aim to invest in deeply discounted credit with strong coverage.

Transparency & Liquidity

  • Daily mark-to-market pricing provides full transparency.
  • Mark-to-market pricing raises volatility, but volatility creates opportunity to acquire deeply discounted credit on technical dislocations.

Enhanced Portfolio Outcomes

  • Access to a return stream beyond traditional high yield and private credit.
  • Targets equity-like upside with lower volatility.
  • Adds low-correlation exposure to complement traditional fixed income and equity allocations.

Tax Efficiency

  • Returns generated are primarily from capital gains.

Evergreen

The opportunity that never closes

Dislocation is structural, not seasonal. Maturity walls, downgrades, forced selling and index exclusion continually create mispriced credit in both strong and weak markets.

Because the Fund runs a fixed capital pool and stays deliberately small, it can move into corners of the market where capital is scarce and competition is thin.

  • Fundamentals-first selection means the entry point matters more than the cycle.
  • A small, fixed capital base can participate where large managers and indexes cannot.
  • Daily mark-to-market volatility is treated as a source of entry, not a risk to avoid.

Stressed

Discounted bonds, 500 to 1000 bps OAS spread, performing credits.

Distressed

Heavily discounted bonds, over 1000 bps OAS spread, balance-sheet restructuring required.

Capital gains

Primary source of returns, tax-efficient by design.

Key Differentiators

Why Pender is different

Priced mark-to-market, the Fund offers a differentiated risk-to-reward stream across credit cycles.

Differentiated Strategy
A fixed capital pool and small fund size allow participation in a less efficient market where capital is scarce.
Enhanced Investor Experience
Full transparency through mark-to-market pricing and the liquidity to exit positions. Returns are primarily capital gains.
Consistent Process
A proven process: careful security selection, detailed credit analysis, active monitoring and rebalancing, and thoughtful company engagement.
Compelling Results
The same stressed and distressed approach has been applied by the team since 2015.
