Pender welcomed 10 senior high school students to our office through VersaFi’s Job Shadow Day. They spent the day learning about what we do and how to start a career in finance.

Since 2004, VersaFi has run Job Shadow Day for young women and non-binary high school students who are interested in business. The free, day-long program runs in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal. It gives students a first-hand look at what a career in finance involves. More than 3,500 students have taken part over the program’s 22 years, and many have gone on to study and work in finance.

During their visit, students got an introduction to Pender and our work. They heard from finance, sales, and marketing professionals about their different career paths and took part in hands-on activities based on real projects from the industry.

Programs like Job Shadow Day help students see themselves in careers they may not have considered. They also help build a more diverse next generation of finance leaders. We were glad to be part of it, and we thank VersaFi for organizing the day and the students for their energy and curiosity.
